ETH Hauptgebäude Hörsaal HG G3, Rämistrasse 101 und Live Stream über Zoom

Measurements of the ratios of muon to electron decays by LHCb (purple) and previous measurements from Belle (red). (Phys. Rev. Lett. 126 161801 and arXiv:2110.09501)

Flavour physics represents one of the most puzzling aspect of particle physics and, at present, is also one of the most active experimental frontiers.

I present a brief introduction to this field, with special emphasis on the subject of Lepton Flavour Universality. I review the present hints of violations of this universality observed in B decays, discussing their phenomenological interest, as well as their possible interpretation in terms of physics beyond the Standard Model.
